The purpose of the position is to coordinate the scheduling and staffing for Venture Outdoor Leadership’s team building programs.The intern will also provide oversight and support for the planning process for programs, ensuring a smooth experience and educative environment for clients, participants, and staff. The intern will also coordinate the annual Venture Open House, including marketing efforts, paperwork, staffing, and event logistics. 

The intern will also facilitate team building programs as needed and as their schedule allows. Facilitation will align with the interns knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Venture Outdoor Leadership UPIPs are also a part of the leadership team and expected to assist with signature events, such as fall training, Gold Rush Open House, and semester interest meetings.

Applicants should be comfortable with engaging by phone, email, and in person with clients, students, and staff.  The intern should also be comfortable giving critical feedback to peers; have strong, professional interpersonal communication skills; strong organization skills; and proven attention to detail. 

Preferred qualifications include: successful completion of KNES 3235: Challenge Course Facilitation; a consistent, positive presence in the Venture Outdoor Leadership program; is in their final year at UNC Charlotte; and has earned a “Lead” status in at least one activity area within Venture Outdoor Leadership.
