Role: Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering Intern – Concord, NC

Location: Concord, NC (housing stipend available if requirements are met)

Pay: $19-22/hour (based on academic classification)

Target Duration: 12 weeks (May 13 – August 2, may be flexible)

Job description:

Position Summary:

This internship offers hands-on experience in automotive manufacturing, working with a cross-functional team. You'll tackle projects like production line setup, process improvements, and training. Apply your coursework knowledge to optimize processes and improve product quality. Your input will shape manufacturing strategies aligned with company goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the implementation of cutting-edge Preventative Maintenance software alongside our skilled Maintenance team, enhancing the development of preventive maintenance schedules for both existing and new equipment.
  • Take an active role in streamlining our operations by assisting in SMED activities aimed at reducing mold setup time, contributing to increased efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Materials Management to optimize rack locations, facilitating seamless materials movement throughout our facility.
  • Take charge of auditing Bills of Material for precision, ensuring accuracy in our production processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, supply chain, and maintenance, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote and adhere to safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be actively pursuing a degree in Process, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. Must have completed a minimum of one year towards a technical degree.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and automation.
  • Experience in CAD software and familiarity with manufacturing simulation tools.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing training a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
