Job Description

DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is HIRING, and we're searching for experienced Transportation Technicians to join our group.

The Transportation Technician is responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests. 

* Hands-on Training and Mentoring are provided to assist with career development.

Primary Responsibilities will include:

  • A daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts.
  • Project field book preparation and documentation.
  • Density logbook preparation and documentation.
  • Material sampling and testing.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the Final Estimates package.
  • Measures distances to verify the accuracy of construction activity/layout dimensions.
  • Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.
  • Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures are followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
  • Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing.
  • Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accepts installation.
  • Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
  • Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities.

What you'll need:

  • High school graduate with four (4+) years' experience in construction inspection, one (1+) year of which shall have been in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
  • AAS Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years' experience; with at least one (1+) year roadway construction inspection experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history required.
  • Complete the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course, and submit the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
  • Position requires a minimum of 40 hours a week with the possibility of overtime (Hourly).
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
