The purpose of the position is to coordinate Venture Outdoor Leadership’s logistics, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our trips. The intern will supervise up to 5-10 student leaders; coordinate staff schedules; provide regular feedback to student staff; and communicate regularly with the assistant director of adventure leadership. The intern will develop goals in their areas and evaluate progress of established goals. Venture Outdoor Leadership UPIPs are also a part of the leadership team and expected to assist with signature events, such as fall training, Gold Rush HTC Open House, and semester interest meetings.

The intern should be comfortable with public speaking and giving critical feedback to peers; have strong, professional interpersonal communication skills; strong organization skills; and proven attention to detail. The intern must have successfully completed either KNES 1231 or the VOLT Foundations workshop series. Preferred qualifications include: a consistent, positive presence in the Venture Outdoor Leadership program; is in their final year at UNC Charlotte; and has earned a “Lead” status in at least one activity area within Venture Outdoor Leadership.
