Job Description

The Forty-Niner Intensive Transition (FIT) Peer Mentors have the responsibility of welcoming students to the College of Engineering and their respective cohorts and supporting them as they progress through Engineering FIT. This includes engaging activities such as presenting to FIT students, critiquing student assignments, facilitating study sessions, conducting fun events on- and off-campus, assisting with class instruction, recruiting FIT participants, setting up outreach tables, working on specific projects associated with the Office of Undergraduate Education and other duties as assigned. Presentations and program activities may be performed outside of the regular work hours from 9 am-5 pm due to the intensive nature of the program (evenings and weekends).

Peer Mentors will work up to 120 hours with some evening and weekend hours. Peer Mentors will schedule weekly office hours; Monday through Friday between 9 am and 5 pm. We prefer candidates with primary availability from 10:00 am-4:00 pm to assist with drop-ins.

In order to work 40 hours currently attending students must be registered for the fall.

The bulk of work will occur August 9th – August 17th for the in-person, synchronous phase of FIT programming and instruction. Additional responsibilities begin in the summer.
