Job Description:

The Charlotte Recovery Program (CRP) within the Center for Wellness Promotion is seeking a dedicated and compassionate graduate assistant to join our team and contribute to the operations of the Charlotte Recovery Program (CRP). This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students in recovery while gaining valuable experience in wellness promotion and student support services.

Potential Job Duties:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of CRP initiatives, events, and programming.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement efforts to promote awareness of CRP resources and services.
  • Collaborate with CWP staff, campus and community partners, and student organizations to cultivate support for students on campus. Note that some programs and events  may occur during evenings and weekends, beyond traditional hours. In such cases, you can coordinate with your supervisor to flex working hours.
  • Support with student-led events including CRP Open Houses and social events.
  • Provide tours of the CRP room to interested community members to inform them of the CRP.
  • Facilitate Recovery Ally Training.
  • Create content for social media platforms to spread information about recovery support.
  • Publish and distribute a monthly newsletter on our listserv. This includes a student spotlight, highlighting events of the month, updating membership, and anything else important for our followers to know.
  • Provide administrative support, encompassing the upkeep of CRP documentation and management of CRP email correspondence.
  • Keep a monthly log of accomplishments, including events, wellness programs, as the year progresses for professional development.
  • Attend weekly supervision team meetings with the team.
  • (Preferred not required) Lead 12-step gatherings such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and All Recovery meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at UNC Charlotte
  • Be in recovery or is a Recovery Ally (attendance in 1-hour training is required before start date - sessions are available on Niner Engage)
  • Interest in or experience with substance use disorder recovery support preferred
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of wellness and inclusivity on campus
