Job Description

Summary of Position:

Responsible for creating and overseeing health and safety protocols for US Conec in Fort Worth, TX and ensuring that all employees are properly informed and complying to emergency preparedness, use of protective equipment, and accident protocol.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

General Safety and Health

  • Evaluates practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
  • Prepares and enforces policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
  • Develops and executes health and safety plans according to legal guidelines.
  • Generates Safety Change Assessment Report (SCAR) and follows up to close them out. 
  • Coordinates Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) audit reviews, walk-throughs, and action items in Texas US Conec facilities. 
  • Collaborates with Hickory counterpart to harmonize existing Safety Committees’ responsibilities as much as possible.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for the company on issues dealing with safety regulations; coordinates with outside consultants as required to determine compliance requirements; and is responsible for all OSHA compliance, recordkeeping, and other requirements, and oversees that employee safety programs are developed and carried out.
  • Provides safety training to supervisors and worker groups. Keeps records on lost time accidents and prepares appropriate reports.
  • Continuously work with HR to ensure that Safety training is coordinated, completed, and recorded. This includes safety training for new hire orientation, ongoing re-training, and compliance training.
  • Collaborate with Hickory counterpart to implement ergonomic design changes.
  • Develops and presents an annual budget for safety initiatives, tools, etc.
  • Serves as the central support person with appropriate city offices (police, fire marshal, etc.) and with third-party security offices advising on US Conec Security Services particularly as it relates to physical building security.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of current safety and security programs and improves and modifies programs as needed to      include emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management. 
  • Develops and administers recognition systems to promote safe and healthy work performance.
  • Develops and assists in communicating Safety measurement standards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to all members      of the organization. 
  • Prepares monthly and annual safety reports and presents the information to management.

Operations Safety

  • Ensures that manufacturing processes at US Conec-TX are in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Uses outside agencies and consultants as appropriate to conduct monitoring/measurement and design activities to achieve compliance. 
  • Performs verification and preventive maintenance on any emergency equipment such as but not limited to fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, first aid kits, fire alarms, and exit signs. 
  • Works with area managers to ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing are available, worn      when required, and inspected and maintained.
  • Works with area manager to evaluate and rectify any activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Conducts or coordinates worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. 
  • Conducts training of powered industrial trucks (forklifts) used in support of manufacturing. Formal (lecture, video, etc.) and practical (hands on training) must be provided. 
  • Writes and revises safety programs and policies that engage all employees. 
  • Oversees the Safety Committee, including, coordinating meeting, and taking meeting minutes to share with management. Responsibilities include but are not limited to reviewing and implementing safety programs/policies in each corresponding area. 
  • Reviews plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering preferred or equivalent work experience will be considered.

· PC skills with standard MS Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and standard e-mail programs.

· Demonstrated decision making and organizational skills.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, presentation skills, along with verbal and written communication skills.

· Thorough knowledge of OSHA requirements

· 3+ years of experience in Safety and Health in a manufacturing facility.
