Summary:
Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency (CRRA) is looking for interns to assist and support CRRA staff in areas of initial refugee Reception and Placement, public health and medical needs coordination, employment services, financial and digital literacy,
and administrative assistance. Because the agency caseload is dependent upon the refugee arrival schedule, the environment varies from week-to-week with the expected refugee arrival number. CRRA interns work closely with resettlement case
managers, program coordinators, and administrative staff.

Internships with CRRA are flexible, and can be coordinated to specifically suit your work and school schedule within the agency’s 9am-5pm Monday through Friday operating hours. Potential interns should be motivated, have strong communication skills, and be able to work within an ever-changing environment. Thebinternship should result in an increased knowledge of the refugee resettlement process, as well as a heightened awareness of the day-to-day procedures within a nonprofit organization.


Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Work alongside CRRA case staff to provide all services as required under the U.S. State Department Cooperative
Agreement of Refugee Reception and Placement Services including internal administrative support as well as direct
client services
• Participate in preparing and setting up housing for new refugee arrivals
• Interface with CRRA staff and local partners on projects
• Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
• Maintain appropriate records and case files and document services and outcomes
• Greet visitors or callers and handle their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
• Maintain client records in appropriate internal agency data bases that you will be trained to use
• Conjointly coordinate the delivery of services according to the Cooperative Agreement as well as the unique needs of
the client
• Examine travel documents, visas, and passports to assist in determining eligibility for CRRA services
• Design or produce materials such as posters, social media, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise CRRA and
its events.
• Develop strategies to encourage new or increased volunteer and donor engagement
• Participate in client initial intakes, Cultural Orientations and final exit meetings with case management staff
• Assist with Department of Social Services enrollment processes including food stamps, Medicaid, cash assistance and
other services as necessary
• Assist clients with preparing service plans to address their immediate needs
• Coordinate medical appointments, follow-ups and referrals from the Mecklenburg County Health Department and
primary care physicians
• Attend relevant meetings and participate in professional education and development opportunities

provides resettlement services to refugees, asylees, and other eligible populations who are escaping violence, persecution, and
repression. CRRA’s infrastructure allows the agency to settle refugees of all nationalities and religions. Refugees are
arriving from Myanmar, Congo, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Guatemala – as well as others. The agency’s programming
encompasses the initial 90-day resettlement period as well as additional programs and services for up for 5 years after arrival
