Job Description

Mallard Creek’s Engineering Internship Program provides current college students with challenging assignments, leadership training, valuable exposure to our company's senior leaders and opportunities to network. This part time internship allows students to continue their course work while gaining experience. Experience may include Lean Manufacturing, Planning Strategy, Operational Excellence, Ergonomics & Safety, Material Handling, Sales & Operations Planning and Continuous Improvement. The Intern will work on a variety of projects guided by a full-time MCP employees and supervised by the Plant Manager. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Follow plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Use personal protection equipment properly and appropriately.
  • Responsible for reporting unsafe acts, conditions, health concerns, spills, and environmental incidents immediately to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintains work area in a neat clean condition.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings.

Other Responsibilities

  •  Works with Process Engineers, Project Engineers, and Maintenance Manager on Capital and Expense Projects.
  • Maintains accurate notes on all work performed and keeps a record of modifications and changes.
  • Modify and Update Documentation e.g. Drawings, Procedures, Work Instructions, etc.
  • Gathers, moves, organizes, equipment, tools, and product as requested.
  • Works successfully individually and in a team environment.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Plant Manager or designee.

Projects may include:

  •    Design and implement automation improvements
  •    Piping projects to facilitate automation and mistake proofing
  •    Time studies to identify reactor cycle time reductions
  •    Complete projects identified by reactor cycle time studies
  •     Projects to upgrade aging infrastructure ex. concrete, containment, piping, building upgrades
Internship SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Collaborate with others to foster effective teamwork by linking own responsibilities to the team’s goals and needs - zeal for new information, knowledge, and experiences Manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently. Ensure effective and efficient completion of projects by planning and implementing courses of action with other functions and key stakeholders Pursuing a BS/BA in Chemical Engineering. Experience with process flow mapping and data analytics Minimum Work Experience Required Demonstrated leadership skills such as: campus organizations, sports team captain, resident advisor, etc. or exceptional leadership of work projects U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future Mallard Creek Polymers
