Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Supply Chain Specialist supports Supply Chain and Scheduling operations on a daily basis. There are daily Procurement activities related to the sourcing and stocking of Supplies and Consumables used in manufacturing, as well as plastic raw materials and engineered components. In addition to those responsibilities, the Supply Chain Specialist will be trained to serve as a back-up for Assembly and Molding scheduling functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

Procurement & Supplier Relations 

- Maintains current knowledge of procurement principles applicable to manufacturing.

- Utilizes best practices for sourcing, bidding, and quoting of sourced goods.

- Purchase consumables and other shop supplies, and maintain inventory cribs for these items, ensuring sufficient stock levels are maintained.

- At the direction of the Supply Chain Manager or Manufacturing and Supply Chain Analyst, issue Purchase Orders for plastic raw materials and engineered components.

- Obtain quotes and maintain quote history filed by suppliers.

- Update and maintain accurate delivery schedules for plastic raw materials and engineered components, communicating with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

Molding Scheduling & Communication

- Updates to molding schedule in Plantstar production monitoring software.

- Assists Manufacturing and Supply Chain Analyst in maintenance of Plantstar database.

- Coordinates manufacturing priorities on the molding floor between operations and engineering teams.

- Provide input to Procurement on needed-by dates to meet customer demand.

Assembly Scheduling & Communication

- Update shipping schedule for finished goods as needed.

- Write material issues (IM) in ERP system to maintain desired stocking levels.

- Schedule assembly and shipping of special circumstances or engineering samples.

- Schedule assembly and shipping of expedites from customer service.

- Communicate with Customer Service to ensure due dates are understood and can be met by assembly and shipping teams.

- Provide input to Procurement on needed-by dates to meet customer demand.

Requirements

Education and Skill Requirements:

- 1+ year of experience in procurement or contract purchasing desired.

- 1+ year of experience in production scheduling desired.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make informed procurement decisions. 

- Proficiency in using procurement software and systems. 

- Excellent communication skills. 

- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
